With just over 48 hours to go until the 2021 NFL Draft, I’ve settled on my final Top 100 Big Board.
Unsurprisingly Trevor Lawrence is at number 1, with Penei Sewell, Kyle Pitts, DeVonta Smith and Justin Fields rounding out the top 5. The latter two of those may be a surprise to some but I’m a firm believer in the Heisman Trophy winning Smith and whilst I know Zach Wilson is going to the Jets at 2 I really do feel that Justin Fields is the second best quarterback in this draft.
Who’s made it into this final top 100 that perhaps wasn’t included before I hear you ask?
I’ve got 6 changes from my mid-March list. Dayo Odeyingbo, Pete Werner, Osa Odhigizuwa, Payton Turner, Dyami Brown and Hamsah Nasirildeen are the new entrants to the group – I’m not as high on Turner or Brown as some seem to be, but I do agree both belong in the first three rounds. By contrast I may be slightly higher on Odhigizuwa and Nasirildeen who I’ve seen in some places going in the 5th or even the 6th rounds – but I love the high energy both bring to their defenses as well the scheme versatility and options both would give me as a defensive coordinator.
Dropping off the list are Shaun Wade, Jaelon Darden, James Hudson, Patrick Jones, Spencer Brown and Tamorrion Terry. Wade’s injury issues and the way he struggled as an outside corner have caused me to drop him down slightly whilst Patrick Jones’ Senior Bowl performance continues to leave me with a bunch of nagging doubts about him.
Darden and Hudson I think will be very close to being Top 100 selections – Hudson is very much a developmental prospect with high upside while Darden has all the tools to be a big play receiver in the NFL but the step up from North Texas may take some getting used to.
So here it is – go check it out and let me on twitter what you think!
